Going to smell like death in there, but whatever, at least you are getting rid of it. stuff a fuel safe hose in there and siphon away. Undo the 3 screws holding the filler neck in place, push filler neck into tank enough to rotate it down and away from the fender, then pull the filler neck out. I have never messed with vanagons but am very familiar with splits and early bays. Other info: 20600 miles on it, no rust, inside very clean, stanard trans, needs top camper seal, door handle on slider broken, driver seat needs recovered, needs small rip in tent sewed, and outside detailed. I dont want to put alot of time and money in it, unless I buy it. I just want to start it, and run it for an hour to see if I want to purchase it. I am wondering how to drain the fuel tank, without pulling the tank. I am looking to buy a 1984 Westie, it has been sitting for five years. Posted: Wed 10:35 am Post subject: Draining the gas tank.
